Great automator! Would like to have it, but being a newbi and the changes in snow leopard, i could not adapt these (very handy) description. How would these steps look like in osx 10.6?

A note, unibody macbooks with light keyboard have identically mounted f and j keys. On previous keyboards (notably Macbooks) f and j keys were mounted differently.

On the unibody, I was able to move all keys successfully, however it required a bit more work than previous keyboards because the plastic lifts had to be mounted separately with this version.

I would advice to do some asynchronous processing. Because on average it takes about 10 seconds to load your page even with my super fast twente connection . But you are right you have really learned a lot

Hey, thanks for the reply. I pulled the trigger day before yesterday, turned it on for about five minutes and then pried all the keys off. Ha! What a gas.

Hi Daniel.

I had just didn’t take enough time for the conversion. Just take your time! I did it once more with the apple keyboard and that was not a problem at all. I am confident I’ll be able to do it again without breaking any keys. I used the method with the two screw drivers which I find is more safe. I broke the one key with the “pulling” method. If you are afraid of breaking anything I suggest you buy an apple keyboard and try it on that. The keys are turned 90 degrees but the mechanism is the same. My macbook is the backlit type.

Hi,
I know this post is pretty old but I’m considering upgrading to the unibody and I was hoping you might be able to tell me a bit more about the dvorak conversion you did.

Specifically, did yours break because of bad luck or do you basically have to break it to change it? I’ve read that the f & j keys attach a little differently, so they’re more or less married to their current locations. Oh, and is your keyboard the backlit one?
